POLL: Do you listen to podcasts on a portable player?

In a recent article it was pointed out that 80% of podcasts never make it off of the PC onto a personal player.

. . . highlighting three key characteristics of podcasting: (1) it used file-based downloads (versus streaming), (2) it was subscription-based (you sign up and podcasts are automatically "pushed" to you on a regular schedule), and (3) the content was then consumed on portable devices.

So maybe the third term needs to be removed, but I'm still curious: How do you listen to your podcast collection? Comment vote UP the method you use the majority of the time. Any other options
I've forgotten should be added in the
comments so that others may vote up that
option as well.

For me its pretty 50/50. Oddly enough though, I only listen to certain podcasts on my portable player while the others I only listen to on my computer. I break it down by things that are good to listen to while working out or in the car versus things that I can listen to in my workplace.

Anything audio goes on my iPod. If I happen to listen to a podcast on my computer, then it's removed from the iPod automatically. Most are heard on the iPod, with the exception of video podcasts (since I only have an iPod mini). Rocketboom stays on the PC.

On an 4th gen. iPod or on my Powerbook.
But i prefer the first device as I'm mostly listening to podcasts on my commute.

On my PB at home, on my iPod Mini away from home. Rarely even listen to music anymore!

I listen to audio podcasts on my ipod, in my car.

The only video podcast I watch is Rocketboom, and I didn't start watching it until it was available on my TiVo. It's a shame, too, I really like listening to Diggnation, for example (and am dying to see control-alt-chicken) and would love to see the video, but I just won't sit in front of my computer to watch it. If I could watch on my couch and my TiVo, I would.

1st gen iPod (5GB); primarily podcasts; not so much music.

I have itunes set up to sync unplayed podcasts to my 30GB 3g ipod whenever I plug it in. I have a hardwired link in my car for the ipod and the ipod is also the cubilcle dwellers best friend. I started listening to podcasts very early on (late oct 2004) and have pretty much completely abandoned radio. I am subscribed to about 70 podcasts at any given time, including tech, news, comedy, and lots of music. I have discovered more new music in the past year and a half from podcasts and bought more new music music as a result than I had in the previous ten years. And the best part is that none is from RIAA labels none of it has drm because I only buy from the likes emusic.com, magnatune and mp3tunes.

1 GB iPod Nano... perfect for podcasts and the newest albums I'm listening to.

I rarely listen to a podcast on my Powerbook. I probably listen to 90% of the programs I download.

Ipod definitely. I almost never listen to podcasts on my desktop machine or other non-portable device.

I'm the one lonely vote for putting it on a CD-RW for my drive into work and home... I'm technologically poor next to most of Newsvine it seems. At least I move Vidcasts over to my Mythtv box for viewing... it's a step in the right tech direction!

5th gen IPOD almost exclusively. I will sample a new podcast to see if I want it on my computer. All my subscribed to pocasts I listen to on my IPOD. As a matter of fact I listen to more podcasts than I do music.

Podcasts gave me reason to start listening to my iPod again. I listen to them in the car and it's like programming my own podcast radio station.

Well I'm sure I would listen to some podcasts if I had the time (like if I bussed a lot during these times of the year) but I only use transit a lot during the summer. At this point in time, I just listen to them on my computer. Oh and another factor is that I like watching the vidcasts rather than just the audio if there is a video that accompanies the audio.

I listen to Europe 1 News (France) in the morning, BBC Newspod (U.K.) by mid-day, and NBC Nightly News (USA) by night.

Once a week I listen to Radio Javan's Insomnia / BBC Rooze Haftom (Persian) and Diggnation / Twit (Tech)

I listen to many other podcasts, but those are the main ones.
